Accessibility Statement
We want as many people as possible to be able to use Hey Piano 4U. This statement describes what is in place today, what is still hard, and how to tell us about a problem. It was last reviewed on October 22, 2026.
What works
- Keyboard operation. The main controls on the home page can be reached with the keyboard. The practice dials respond to the arrow keys, Home and End, and the song list opens with Enter. Space or any key can play the notes in Any key mode.
- Several ways to play. You can use a mouse, touch, your computer keyboard or a MIDI keyboard.
- Speed control. Every song can be slowed to 40% of normal speed, and in Follow mode the song waits for you.
- Labels and structure. Controls have text labels, the pages use headings and landmarks, and the layout adapts to small screens and zoom.
- Reduced motion. If your device asks for reduced motion, animations such as confetti and the dial spin are switched off.
- Readable pages. Articles and policies are plain text with strong contrast and no autoplaying audio.
Known limits
- The lit keys and falling notes are visual. The countdown numbers appear on the keys and the song is also heard, but the visual display is the main guide, so the lighting does not work well for someone who cannot see the screen. Song names, levels and instructions are available as text.
- The falling-notes display is drawn on a canvas and is not described to screen readers.
- Colour is used to show right and wrong notes (green and red). We have not yet added a dedicated high-contrast or colour-blind mode.
- Embedded third-party content, such as pages on archive.org, is outside our control.
